Prosper & Melissa Surgical Orthodontics
Maximizing Oral Health
Surgical orthodontics can help our patients with severe bite issues, facial (face, mouth, jaw, and skull) bone discrepancies, malocclusion (dental discrepancies), or a combination of these complex issues. In our practice, we have state-of-the-art equipment and innovative technology to provide every patient with the best treatment possible. Also, known as orthognathic surgery, this procedure will remove the barriers to proper jaw alignment when traditional braces or other noninvasive orthodontic treatments will not be effective. It is usually necessary for a patient to wear braces on the teeth to correct the bite and straighten teeth before the surgical procedure.
We invite you to learn more about our Prosper & Melissa surgical orthodontic procedures by scheduling a free consultation at (972) 934-6222. We will discuss all the options available to you.
About Surgical Orthodontics
When you have an improper bite or your jaw did not grow in the appropriate position, this can cause many dental problems, impact your appearance, and your quality of life.
Patients come to our office having several oral health problems, including:
- Inability to eat normal food or chew properly
- Impaired speech
- Tooth pain
After an evaluation by Dr. Bietsch, it will be determined which surgery is best and what treatments will be needed after the surgery site (jaw) has healed. Each patient is different, so a customized treatment plan will be created for you.
What to Expect
Each patient will have a surgery specific to their needs. Your surgery can take several hours to complete under general anesthesia. We will make sure to monitor you closely until it is time for discharge. At home, we suggest that you rest, by taking about 2 weeks for recovery and healing time. You will have follow-up appointments with Dr. Bietsch to check your progress and continue your orthodontic care until completion.
Please call with your questions and we will be happy to assist you. Dr. Bietsch will also talk to you about how to properly care for your surgery site and what complications to look for before the scheduled surgery date.
Restore Your Confidence
At Bietsch Orthodontics, we want to help you restore the confidence in your smile. Even though a surgical intervention is usually the last resort in orthodontics, Dr. Bietsch knows that at times it may be necessary. At our Prosper practice, we will discuss with all the options in braces, appliances, and surgeries that can be used to get you the smile you deserve.

Patient Experiences
Opinions We Cherish Most-
“I chose to see Dr. Bietsch from a referral from a friend. I am so happy that I did. The entire consult was all about my son and never about the doctor. I was so impressed that I chose to see him myself for some orthodontic work.”
- Amy -
“We love Dr. Bietsch's office. It's very easy to find a qualified orthodontist, but more difficult to find the combination of highly qualified, and caring. I feel like going above and beyond, is just normal for Dr. Bietsch and his staff.”
- Kelly -
“I was walked through each x-ray, necessary procedure and plan to align a jaw, straighten teeth, and make sure both my children and I were going to be happy with the results. Very impressed.”
- Aimee
